Stuart Clarke is an Authorized VIP (Vocology In Practise) Voice Instructor and works as a professional guitarist and singer. He has studied voice for over 19 years and is regarded as one of New Zealand's top vocal coaches with clients ranging from children, recording artists, record managers and some of New Zealand's top actors and musical theatre performers. In 2006 Stuart became New Zealand's first teacher trained and certified to teach using the Speech Level Singing method (A method that has helped over 120 Grammy Winners) and was one of the highest certified teachers of the method in the southern hemisphere. In 2008 he furthered his studies by travelling to Hollywood to train alongside world-renowned voice teacher for the stars and creator of the Speech Level Singing method Seth Riggs (Voice coach for Michael Jackson, Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder etc). During Stuart's training period with SLS he worked extensively for over a decade with all seven SLS Master Instructors and was part of the Summer Vocal program in Hollywood. In 2012 Stuart teamed up with top LA vocal coach Dave Stroud (CEO of VocalizeU and Vocology In Practise) to create a vocal and artist development program for up and coming NZ artists. He is now NZ’s only Authorized Vocology In Pracitse Voice Instructor.
Stuart has teaching studios based in Auckland and Wellington and also has an online vocal program where he trains students across the globe using VocalizeU (The worlds most advanced vocal software). Stuart's Wellington studio is located just down the road from Peter Jackson's Weta Studios where the Lord of the Rings digital animations were made and many of Stuart's clients are part of the Weta Digital team. Stuart has conducted vocal workshops and taught singing at the NZ Waikato Institute of Technology, the NZ School Of Rock/Rock Camp and every year brings top US vocal coaches to N.Z. for workshops and to train his students at his own studio. In 2012 he brought over Dave Stroud (Touring Coach for American Idol) and Daniel Bedingfield (No1 selling NZ artist) for a one-week singing intensive.
Alongside teaching Stuart works as a performer and runs a successful performance business where he performs and employs other musicians to play at corporate functions, parties and weddings etc. He has performed, recorded and toured as lead guitarist with well known NZ band Tommy (Loop Records) who headlined and performed at many of the big NZ festivals such as Rhythm and the Vines, Aotea Square New Years Eve, and opened for, and played along side, many well known national and international acts such as Donovan Frankenreiter, The John Butler Trio, Holly Smith etc. Stuart also writes and performs his own original music.
